I read a blog on SOHU.COM of a very famous young author (Han Han, or 韩寒) in China. His opinions are always very independent and always supported with substance, which is one of the reasons why I regularly follow his entries. This is roughly what he said (I translated it from Chinese):

Many people left me messages saying that, you should discuss what’s going on recently.
I’ve seen many people say that the Western world did these [regarding Tibet] because they are scared, they are scared that we [China] are becoming stronger and stronger, they are afraid to see a powerful China. They can’t bear China’s growth. Their actions are signs of their fear.

Don’t think this way.
Or think about it but don’t believe in it.
Sometimes it’s very confusing. This [China] is a country in which you can’t watch CNN, but this is a country that has the power to condemn CNN. Fervent Chinese supporters, go ahead and go. I’ll be watching.

I found it interesting. I somewhat agree, somewhat disagree. Actually, I think I’m confused by my own opinions.
