1156?! sj=crack

I checked my unique visitor data today, and guess what I saw? 1156 on April 25th. Definitely did not know this many people visit, since this is 2x my normal traffic. *prepares thank you speech as if just won a Grammy* *embarrassed and runs away*

So unfortunately, Super Junior-M’s debut album ME was leaked before its official release :( Since I’m going to have my friend purchase the album for me when he goes back to China, I went ahead and downloaded the songs for a listen. At first I was rather disappointed with a few of the remakes, but after putting it on repeat for two days straight, I’m getting used to them. Album review? How did you know XD

01. 迷 ME (3/5)

What a happy song to start out the album with! I secretly thought Siwon’s voice was unusually high at the beginning; it bothered me a little. The lyrics are fun and fluffy; the chorus happy and cheerful; the tune catchy. What else can you possibly want in a CPop song? XD

02. U (4/5)

BEST REMAKE EVER *spaz* If you have not seen this music video, you definitely need to. I almost prefer this version over the original U, but I do miss Eunhyuk’s and Kibum’s raps. Henry’s violin solo in the middle is freaking amazing, and Siwon basically sight-raped the girl in the music video =_=;; Other than that, U is 100% love.

03. 至少还有你 At Least Still Have You (5/5)

OHMYGOD OHMYGOD OHMYGOD MY FAVORITE SONG EVER, NOT JUST OUT OF THIS ALBUM, EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER. This is a remake of an older Chinese song. I first heard it on radio mid-April, and it was love like instant noodles (odd simile…). THE LYRICS ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING EVER. It’s basically a love song, but unlike some of the other SJ love songs (*cough Marry U*), this one is actually full of meaning. Kyuhyun and Ryeowook’s voices in this = win win win.

04. 你是我的奇迹 You are My Miracle (3/5)

Weird remake, the whole song is a whole musical step higher than the original. But interesting nevertheless? The lyrics mean basically the same thing as the Korean version. The song is happy, cute, uplifting, it made me smile.

05. 爱你爱你 Love Song (3/5)

Another fast beat happy song. Wow, they really have a thing with happy tunes, don’t they? Zhoumi wrote the lyrics to this one, it’s really cute. ZHOUMI YOU ARE AN AWESOME LYRICIST. Just thought I would throw it out there XD

06. 我抱着我 In My Arms (4/5)

If you don’t understand Chinese or haven’t looked at the lyrics, this song sounds sweet and beautiful. GUESS WHAT? The lyrics are heartbreaking. The song is about a breakup (ish), and it broke my heart when I first listened to it. The literal translation of the title is “I Hug Myself,” and it makes sense now that I’ve listened to the song. The tune is catchy, a little slow, but has a strong beat. Vocals are beautiful, RYEOWOOK & KYUHYUN YOU ARE MY LOVE *cough fangirling*.

07. Don’t Don! (4/5)

I was SOOO scared to listen to this remake. Don’t Don is my all time favorite song from Super Junior, and I was afraid what they would do with this Chinese version. It didn’t turn out as great as I have imagined (but then again, nothing does, I’ve imagined owning all of Super Junior and making them sing for me everyday =_=). This version lost some of the aggressiveness, and it sounds less powerful and emotional, but I did enjoy Zhoumi and Hangeng’s raps. Henry’s shout at the end (”SUPER JUNIOR”) was totally weird, because it was actually in normal, standard, no-accent English. I like Heechul’s version better (”SHHUUUPAA JUNIAAAHH”), but *sigh* what can you do, I’ll get used to it.

08. Marry U (3/5)

One of my least favorite remakes. I didn’t like Donghae rapping Eunhyuk and Shindong’s parts, and the song sounded emotionless. Lyrics are rather boring, but it pretty much sticked to the original meaning. Donghae’s “love, baby my girl” at the beginning just doesn’t sound the same as Eunhyuk’s. OH EUNHYUK I MISS YOU, COME RAP AND DANCE FOR ME.

09. 我的二分之一 Full of Happiness (4/5)

The remake of Happiness! I wasn’t expecting a lot out of this one, since pretty much nothing can replace Sungmin’s ultra-cute entrance to the song, Eunhyuk & Shindong’s freakishly adorable raps, and Heechul’s silly hip motions to Kibum. But I did like this remake a lot. The lyrics have different meanings from the original, and I kind of like this one better. Siwon’s Chinese is really good in this. Henry’s rap is ADORABLE, especially that line about bombing planes XD (this sounds totally weird…).

10. 渴望 Thirst (A Man in Love) (3/5)

I think they kept the “yo” at the very beginning from the old version, which made me insanely happy ^^ My favorite line is Siwon’s “my confession” when the song officially starts, probably because I loved Sungmin’s version of that in Korean so much. The lyrics are really…charismatic, I guess? It had a lot of contents about seduction and such… And Donghae needs to work on his Chinese T_T

11. 这一秒 This Moment (5/5)

OHMYGOD THIS IS THE CRACK. SERIOUSLY. BEST CPOP SONG EVER. The intro is very Asian sounding, which I LOVED, and the song has a fast-ish beat, isn’t draggy, and has GREAT lyrics. WHOEVER WROTE THE MELODY IS A GENIUS. AND OHMYGOD HENRY’S ENGLISH RAP + VIOLIN SOLO IN THE MIDDLE! I loved it so much that after listening to it 1938769874398176 times, I decided to cut it and made it my ring tone (I’m a freak..I know). Ryeowook’s voice in this song is GORGEOUS, I wish he’s my nerdy boy.

12. The One (3.5/5)

One of those motivation songs for the 2008 Olympics. An okay slow song, I don’t like it too much, so not much comment on it either.

*COUGH* Way too much fangirling for a day (lots of capitalizations and omgs). If you’ve read through all that, I’m going to assume that you are a SJ fan as well (or otherwise you must REALLY REALLY love me *HUGS*). I’ve romanticized and translated all the lyrics for this album (except the last song, still working on that). You can find them here.

I thought Henry did “Baby my girl” in marry u? At the start anyway. If Donghae did it his english has improved…alot.

Also I loved LOVED This Moment, that’s my favorite track. It was so much love I’m happy to see your 5/5 rating on it because it was awesomely good the album is worth the buy for that track I like it that much. But I can’t just can’t bring myself to sit down and give The One a good listen through.

During “Marry U,” I thought it was Henry who rapped “love, oh baby my girl” :DDD

Congrats, Anna!!! =D // ROFL. Hahahha. XD “Sight rape” haha…. Yeah, I do miss Jewel Guy and Kibummie’s rap. =( But I do love Donghae’s rap, man. >o<;; // Yeah “At Least I Have You” is so freakin’ amazing! I love it a lot! // OMG. So it was Henry who actually screamed “Super Junior” in the end?!?! XD Man, haha. I remember when we were wonderin’ who it was. // In “Happiness”, I do agree. Nothing can replace Sungmin’s adorable voice in the beginning. I just love Heechul and Sungmin’s parts on that song.

“Siwon basically sight-raped the girl in the music video =_=;; Other than that, U is 100% love.”
Hahahaha XDD so true though, he looked sooo intense <3

“Kyuhyun and Ryeowook’s voices in this = win win win.”
Didn’t Ryeowook sing the high part at the last chorus? that was amazing .heart.

“but I did enjoy Zhoumi and Hangeng’s raps” that was surprising, i didn’t know Hangeng could rap XD and I liked Heechul’s “Super Junior” at the end better than Henry’s, but Henry did try :D

And your spaz about “The Moment” just about covered everything I wanted to say, I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!!!! x.x <33333 Sorry for spamming your comment box with such a big comment, I’ve been fangirling ever since the songs came out =__= And thank you so much for all the translations and pinyin, that must have taken you soooo long, all of us fangirls really appreciate it ^_^

Yoomie & Sophie - so Henry did that beginning part? *goes to listen*

Rach - OH YES “AT LEAST STILL HAVE YOU” AND “THE MOMENT” ARE THE TWO BEST SONGS ON THIS ALBUM. (wow I must have a thing for caps…) “The Moment” is completely genius, that melody is just amazing.

Krazim - *sigh SUNGMIN ads;lkfja;owieng;l* Yep, at the end Henry screamed, it was all correct English pronounciations and everything, but it was just so weird =_=;; But I’m glad you liked Donghae’s raps, it was just so different from Eunhyuk’s that I’m still not used to it. But the album is still on repeat 24/7 so I’ll probably start liking it soon! XD

Sonia - LOL, I leave the longest comments everywhere, and np for the lyrics, I’m a second semester senior who has nothing else to do on weekday nights anyway XD

I’m busying writing a 7-pg paper, but just thought I’d say that this is an awesome album and DAMN THEIR CHINESE IS GOOD!!!

  9. Posted April 26, 2008 at 6:56 pm | Permalink

(^) Good luck with your paper! Can’t believe you still have so much work as a second semester senior. But ONE MORE MONTH (or one and a half?) TO GO!

They worked so hard on their Chinese! It touched my heart how hard they tried XD Donghae still has the biggest accent, but at least he’s trying! And Kyuhyun’s Chinese is just amazing - that kid is just smart (:

Hehe, do you think Kyuhyun’s chinese is better, or Ryeowook’s? For some reason, I keep on noticing that in “The Moment”, Kyuhyun kept on saying “wo de hai” instead of “wo de ai” XDD I thought that was adorable <3 Ryeowook did too, a little, but Kyuhyun’s is a bit more noticeable. But how can I criticize? They are trying so hard and improving soooo much :D

Oh wowww Lol quite creative of you to translate all those songs based on instinct and feelings. =D

  12. Posted April 26, 2008 at 8:30 pm | Permalink

OMG, you’ve got adorable smileys here. XD Reminds me of mochi… which reminds me of Henry’s mochi cheeks. XDDDDD

I completely agree with you about Henry’s “SUPER JUNIORRRR” thing at the end of Don’t Don. But his line about bomber planes does make up for it, IMHO. And his amazingness in Zhe Yi Miao (too lazy to turn on my Chinese typing lol) Such crack…

I’m almost sure I like the remake of U better than the original. The lyrics in the Chinese one almost work out for me (the Korean one flowed better “sound-wise” IMHO), but it’s mostly the awesome dance twist on the song… and I felt that the voices all worked together rather well. I just didn’t like Zhou Mi’s rapping. *sighhhhh* Donghae’s rapping was pretty good except he needs to lose a bit of that accent. x33

henry did eunhyuk’s rap in the beginning of “marry u”.
I watched henry rap that part of it in a super junior m interview.

I’m very impressed with the korean members’ chinese
They speak better mandarin than I do. =/
